What can you expect from your Tibetan Medicine Consultation?
Because TTM is a truly holistic healing system, we will look at you and your concerns in the context of your life, not just zooming in on your painful knee but looking at the internal and external influences, the things that may be creating the imbalances that result in the painful knee.
First we will look at your particular humor, your body type. Similar to the doshas of Ayurvedic medicine, TTM has three main types: rLung (wind), Tripa (bile) and Badkan (phlegm). This then gives a clear picture of the types of treatment and medicines most suitable to address your problems.
Both typology and pathology are diagnosed through several "tools": pulse reading, urine analysis, tongue analysis, visual observation and questions. These are traditional methods used in Tibetan Medicine for thousands of years to understand and assist the patient.
As there are four arms to the treatment aspect of TTM, medicines are not the only healing tool. Diet and lifestyle options and possible changes will be discussed, and where appropriate, the use of external therapies such as Ku Nye massage. All four support each other and work together as powerful healing aids.
It is important that people are involved in their own healing process; to give someone a clear understanding and knowledge of their body type and what that means goes a long way to empowering that process.
