Dr Edward Bach was a renowned physician who practised for over twenty years as a Harley Street consultant in London; he evolved his simple, natural method of healing in the 1920’s.
The 38 flower remedies he discovered act to heal through the balancing of mind and emotion, what he believed to be the ultimate cause of all our physical dis-ease.
In his own words:
“let not the simplicity of this method deter you from its use. Take no notice of the disease; think only of the outlook on life of the one in distress.”
The remedies are all prepared from the flowers of wild plants, bushes or trees. None are harmful or habit forming. Based on the belief that our emotional and mental states affect our physicial state, Bach Flower Remedies can help with many conditions such as fear, anxiety, depression, self esteem, sleep problems, phobias and addictions.
Karen is a student and member of the Bach Flower Institute, founded to keep Dr Bach’s work alive and active.

Rescue Remedy
Probably the best known of Dr Bach flower essence therapies, Rescue Remedy is often the first place people “meet” the Bach Remedies.
- Star of Bethlehem for shock
- Rock Rose for terror
- Impatiens for mental stress and tension
- Cherry plum for desperation
- Clematis for the bemused, out of body feeling, which often precedes fainting, or loss of consciousness.
Use Rescue Remedy for any emergency, great or small. Use it for sorrow, sudden bad news, after accidents, fear or stress. It can be taken before going into a stressful situation such as an exam or job interview. Take 4 – 6 drops in a glass of water, or under the tongue, immediately and as often as required, every five minutes if needed. Pets can have a few drops in their water bowl. It is not intended to replace emergency medical treatment where it is indicated, but can certainly assist while waiting for help to arrive.
