So I stood out under that beautiful full moon, wondering how the pundits had worked out that it was the biggest one for 300 years - did they remember the last time?
So I stood out under that beautiful full moon, wondering about all the pundits who said it would bring more earthquakes, tsunami, disaster in general but possibly specifically over Christchurch - can the moon beam down more on one spot?
So I stood out under that beautiful full moon and was just washed clean in the amazing golden light. I enjoyed the cosmic joke that she was showing us her rabbit face when we are in the year of the rabbit. I watched the clouds make ephemeral, lasting for a second only, lace patterns across her face. And as she rose slowly in the sky (how often do we stand still and really watch the moon or the sun rise?), I felt my heart lift with it.
I've turned off the news and I am not looking at newspapers, it is all too terrible. All I can do is pray and try to be a place of calm, compassion and service. If we can all do that, maybe our islands will join up?
Anyway, I hope I don't have to wait another 300 hundred years for a moon like that.
